Nehemia 8:13-14

8:13 On the second day of the month the family leaders ¹  met with ²  Ezra the scribe, together with all the people, the priests, and the Levites, to consider the words of the law. 8:14 They discovered written in the law that the LORD had commanded through ³  Moses that the Israelites should live in temporary shelters during the festival of the seventh month,

13:1 On that day the book of Moses was read aloud in the hearing ⁴  of the people. They found ⁵  written in it that no Ammonite or Moabite may ever enter the assembly of God,

[8:13]  ² tn Heb “were gathered to”; NAB, NIV “gathered around”; NRSV “came together to.”

[8:14]  ³ tn Heb “by the hand of.”

[13:1]  ⁴ tn Heb “ears.”

[13:1]  ⁵ tn Heb “it was found.” The Hebrew verb is passive.
